Let’s make the California Consumer Privacy Act work!

The new California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) created some unintentional consequences. Legislation will fix these concerns with the California Consumer Privacy Act and make privacy work for consumers and small businesses.

Without legislation to fix the CCPA, did you know that…

You are at risk to lose all of your reward and loyalty points for hotels, airlines, grocery stores, and more?

Your sensitive personal information could be given to fraudsters?

You may not be notified of any safety recalls for your vehicle?

MORE of your personal information may be forced to be collected and saved by small and large companies?

Your personal information is required to be shared with other people in your household who ask for it —

whether you give permission or not?

Make Privacy Work

For Consumers

  • Allow consumers to continue participating in loyalty and rewards programs.
  • Ensure other members of your household can’t access your personal data.
  • Clarify “personal information” so businesses aren’t required to collect MORE of your personal data.

For Safety

  • Protect consumers by ensuring they continue to receive product safety recall information.
  • Don’t take away the ability of businesses to protect consumers from identity theft.
  • Ensure businesses are not required to send a person’s sensitive information to potential fraudsters.

For Small Businesses

  • Make fixes to save businesses significant money by clarifying that this new law does not apply to employees.
  • Make fixes to allow businesses to continue to use targeted, online advertising.
  • Make fixes so businesses are not required to create and staff a toll-free number to respond to privacy requests from this new law.
  • Make fixes so businesses do not have to violate the security of their customers by requiring them to give data to potential fraudsters.
  • Make fixes so businesses do not have to violate the privacy of their customers by requiring them to give sensitive personal data to other members of a customer’s household.
  • Make fixes to clarify that businesses are not required to collect and house personal information from anyone who visits their website.
